CIBOS Held a Symposium on Current Situation of Boundary and Ocean

On March 13, Yi XianLiang, Director-General of The Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and the entourages visited the Institute and held a symposium on current situation of boundary and ocean. Director-General Yi expressed his views on the current situation of boundary and ocean about "China's overall diplomatic situations", "the situations of the land boundary", "the situation of the ocean boundary" and the "One Belt One Road & the Indo-Pacific Strategy" on the symposium. Faculties and students of the CIBOS & IIS listened carefully to this report; and President Yu MinYou hosted this Symposium.

In his speech, Director-General Yi XianLiang stressed that China's current situation of boundary and ocean is in the coexistence relationship of competition and cooperation, China must continue to firmly follow the path of peaceful rise. Facing with a new round of the "Indo-Pacific Strategy" of the U.S., China should proceed from a "pragmatic" attitude, truing the passive into the initiative, expand its own "friend circle" and take the road of cooperation and win-win.

After the symposium, Director-General Yi XianLiang presided over a seminar on the situation of boundary and ocean, studied and anaylzed the situation of the boundary and ocean in 2018, and stated the focuses of the annual research. Dr. Wu Shicun, the President of National Institute for South China Sea Studies; Prof. Hu Dekun, the Chairman of Collaborative Innovation Center for Territorial Sovereignty and Maritime Rights at WuHan University & Senior professor of humanities and social sciences; Zhu Feng, the executive director of the Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies at Nanjing University; Yu MinYou, the President of the Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies and others participated in the seminar. Part of the faculties of the Wuhan University CIBOS attended the seminar.
