On May 24, Prof. Hu Dekun was invited to delivered a theme lecture on "Great Era, Large Pattern, Grand Strategy, Wise Wisdom——Great Power Politics with Chinese Characteristics in the XiJinPing’s New Era and Protection of China’s Rights in the South China Sea" at the "LuoJia Voice" political dynamics and policy demonstration class. Situation and Policy Education Center of Wuhan University held this event. Prof. Hu Dekun——dean of the Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies (CIBOS) and senior professor of WHU’s humanity and social science was the keynote speaker. Nearly 100 teachers and students attended the event and studied in depth General Secretary Xi’s diplomatic thoughts after the 19th CPC National Congress.

Prof. Hu Dekun systematically elaborated on diplomatic thoughts of General Secretary Xi Jinping in the new era from three aspects: Xi Jinping's new era perspective, Xi Jinping's new concept of 'building a community of human destiny for all mankind’, and Xi Jinping's neighborhood diplomacy and China's marine rights protection. In the last 5 years, General Secretary Xi Jinping has strategically designed a new foreign policy with great Chinese characteristics in accordance with the thinking of the great era, the grand strategy, and the wise wisdom."

Prof. Hu Dekun emphasized that only by paying attention to both land power and sea power can we firmly secure China’s core interests and sovereignty. Developing maritime power is a certain way for China to renaissance and China still has a long way to go to become a maritime power.
