On the morning of June 25th, Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies (CIBOS) and Wuhan University Institute for International Studies (IIS) held 2018 graduation and degree awarding commencement in the CIBOS lecture hall. Xiong Ling, associate professor and assistant of the dean, presided over the graduation ceremony. Our teachers and 45 students were gathered together. 

Ms. Xiong xiaoyu, associate dean of CIBOS and IIS reported on this year’s graduates at the commencement: the total number of graduates of CIBOS and IIS was 45 in 2018. Among them, there were 36 master graduates and 9 PhDs. "Interdisciplinary development: training students to be proficient in law, history, foreign language, and technology has been the development goal of our institute" said Prof. Xiong Xiaoyu. "Hoping that all of you will have an open mind, have a global view, uphold the spirit of Wuhan University, and shoulder the responsibility of the times."

The delegate of the teachers, Dr. Ye Zhengguo made a speech at the commencement. "I started working at CIBOS since 2015, and I grew up with 2018 graduates for three years. From you, I have seen passion and responsibility of the future, " said Dr. Ye. " Future life is full of uncertainty and imperfection. I hope you will face it positively and adapt to the changes from the campus to the society. "

 Tong Meng, a master's degree graduate student and a PhD student Xue Zhihua, spoke on behalf of the graduates. Tong Meng reviewed his three years of study and life at CIBOS. "Today, we graduated. Although there are still many reluctances and regrets, but we must stand tall, stride forward, and forge ahead into the future. We will carry the glory of Wuhan University and teachers' inculcation to go forward and fly high " said Tong Meng passionately. Xue Zhihua said that every generation of youth has a mission and responsibility of their own. " The mission on our shoulders is the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Our personal destiny will be closely connected with the development of society and the future of the country. Most importantly, we will be the contributor, builder and striker of the new era."

 At the graduation commencement, professor Hu Dekun, senior professor of the humanities and Social Sciences, director of CIBOS, awarded degree certificates to 45 graduates. At the end of the graduation commencement, all the graduates and teachers took a group photo. "Mountains and rivers, a journey of luck," and at the shore of East Lake, Luojia mountain, wish every graduate a bright future.
