The 2018 Course of Works in Border Areas and Surveying Technology Successfully Completed

On 2 November, the 2018 course of works in border areas and surveying technology successfully completed. The course was hosted by the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. A total of 28 officials and experts, from departments of foreign affairs, border management, surveying and mapping, from 13 neighboring countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia and North Korea, attended the course.

During the course, the participants listened earnestly; stimulated the delimitation negotiations; visited the national key laboratories and museums; discussed and shared the practice and experience of works in border areas in various countries; went to the border of China and Laos to investigate the joint border inspection of the two countries; investigated the planning and construction of cross-border facilities such as border crossings, railway stations and "friendship" tunnels, thus to apply the theoretical knowledge to the actual works in border areas. In addition to the class, the participants, through explanations and personal experience, also acknowledged the development achievements in the past 40 years since the Reform and Opening-Up.

This is the third time the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs hosted the course. The participants actively participated in the course; expressed appreciation for China's achievements in its development; highly praised the course and said that in the future, they will actively promote the cooperation with China on works in border areas.
